What is Wimbly Lu? Who is Wimbly Lu?

It's actually the name of a cafe I visited on Tuesday with Yan! It's along a row of shop house, with a few other restaurants beside it. It is rather "ulu" and deep within the residential area, I say. Nonetheless, the cafe is still easily accessible with the help of Google Maps (thank you to whomever who invented it)! Or if you're lazy to look up Google Maps, take a look at my *helpful* directions at the bottom of this post.

Root Beer Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream ($6), one of their signatures, was good! The taste of root beer was evident in the first bite and coupled with the vanilla ice cream, it's heavenly. However it was a pity that I couldn't really taste the root beer anymore after a few bites. This was actually the main dish that attracted us there. I definitely have to agree with everyone who were raving about it. It's an innovative dish and I'm certain I haven't seen it elsewhere yet! It would have deserved 5/5 if the root beer taste was constant throughout.

Tiramisu. Good ol' tiramisu. Recently I have been craving for tiramisu so we thought to give this a try. It didn't disappoint, yay! The cream was smooth and milky, yet not too thick. The bread sponges were a little too soggy but it certainly boasts that the pastry chef wasn't stingy with the alcohol. You would have thought the after taste would be super bitter but no, surprisingly it wasn't! I wouldn't recommend this to those who hate alcohol, but for those who do, this is great! I couldn't stop putting my spoon back into the cup for more of the creamy tiramisu!

Molten Lava Cake ($6) tasted average, and somewhat similar to the ones I had before. However, it is the cheapest lava cake I had and hence, the price made it worth to try.

Earl Grey Tea ($5) was fragrant and when we finished the pot, we requested for it to be refilled. Yes yes, I know we can get earl grey tea bags from any supermarket, but what's an afternoon tea without TEA?

For those who don't like tea, plain water is free of charge though.

I would love to go back again for the root beer cake! Also, maybe breakfast too? It feels very cosy and homely there and also to mention, it was raining on Tuesday. Watching the rain drops fall on the glass ceiling gave the entire place a romantic ambience. I'm sure Wimbly Lu would be a good place for dates, or even for group gatherings.
